Non-Attachment

I hate to talk about things that can be deemed a bit woo-woo or hippy-ish.

I’m not that kind of person really but today I meditated and it’s not for the first time.

I think I’ve been sitting quietly for ten minutes most mornings for a few years now.

It is the only way I can really get myself into a carefree state for working on new musical ideas.

I’m not quite at the level where I can meditate again in the afternoon, but I think that would be of equal benefit.

I like to work on music both at the beginning and at the end of my working day (holding down a 9-5 while doing this music stuff).

So, if I can free up the time, I think I will take another ten minutes before starting on music work later in the day.

I think it will help speed things up for me.

Or is it possible to work any quicker than I already am?

I only really spend about 15 minutes on each track in the evening as I have a ready-made list of actions to try (unless it’s a mixdown or mastering session then it will be 25 minutes).

I just work through the list without really taking any time to consider my actions.

That will come later when I listen back.

It really is flying-by-the-seat-of-the-pants kind of editing.

That way I can cycle through many tracks in a short amount of time to get them to a state where I can decide if I want to release them.

The quicker that happens, the faster I can move onto creating and progressing newer and possibly better ideas.

Removing the attachment with the track that may have formed in the process.

The more attached you get the more difficult it is to make decisions on what actions to take.

That really doesn’t help at all.
