Dance Music Charts

Another day another writing session

Just like creating music, writing is one of those things you just need to do every day

A minimum viable session

For me that’s to open a blank page and start writing whatever comes into my head while I check out new releases on Beatport

Unfortunately, Friday is when every man and his dog decides to release their music

This means I have to sit here and write for a lot longer than usual

So, it seems the way to release music is to do it on a Friday

Why is that?

Turns out that sales charts have been compiled every week on a Friday since time began

For a track to be included in these charts (and to stand a chance of placing anywhere in them), releasing on Friday means that downloads or streams from the enitre week are counted

If so many tracks are released on the same day what do you think the chances of charting are?

Slim to none I reckon

Unless of course you’re already very popular and have a big label promoting your music to a very large audience

Seems like a lost cause for the rest of us

Being lost in a haystack with thousands of other needles doesn’t sound like a great place to be

That’s why I’m releasing my music every week on a Thursday

I don’t like to do the same things as everyone else

We are all unique so why try and be the same?

If your music is good, there will be an audience for it

They just need to find you
